Fun in Sorrento!

Welcome back to Part 2 of our Sorrento adventure! After exploring the charming streets, savoring local flavors, and soaking in the stunning views of this coastal gem, it’s time to dive into the next three days of our journey.

Day 4

What an adventure-packed day we had! First stop: Pompeii! Wandering through the ancient streets was like stepping back to 79 AD—imagine strolling among the townsfolk of a bygone era. It’s incredible to think that this city lay hidden for centuries under 13 feet of ash until they began uncovering it 300 years ago. Fun fact: they’re 90% done with the excavation, but there’s still more to discover.

Next up, Mount Vesuvius! We hiked to the top of the crater—a mile-long trek that was so worth it for those jaw-dropping views. And yes, this is still an active volcano (last eruption: 1944). Mimi, our fantastic tour guide, filled us in on all the cool facts, like how the area around the mountain, called the Red Zone, has a strict no-building policy due to the risk of eruptions. Talk about living on the edge.

To wrap up the day, we kicked back with some aperitivo at the Irish Bar. Great people-watching, even better company—we chatted with a lovely couple from Ireland and had such a blast. Then it was off to Semola Pasta Bar for dinner (round two, because it was that good). Perfect ending to an epic day!

Day 5

Our day was pure bliss! We kicked things off at Marameo Beach Club and went all out by booking the VIP area at the end of the pier. Talk about living the dream! We had our own hot tub, private dining space, comfy lounges, floats, and towels—all just steps away from the sparkling Mediterranean Sea. A quick set of stairs, and we were in that gorgeous, crystal-clear water. It doesn’t get better than that.

After soaking up the sun and sea, we turned up the heat (literally) at a cooking class with Chef Christiano and the Penisola Experience. This one had a bigger group, but it was a total blast! We got hands-on making gnocchi, eggplant parm, and tiramisu—all while sipping his homemade wine and limoncello. Delicious food, great company, and plenty of laughs made for the perfect ending to an unforgettable day.

Day 6

Rain couldn’t dampen our Amalfi Coast adventure! We toured Amalfi, Positano, and Ravello, and even with a little drizzle, we managed to snap some stunning photos.

In Amalfi, we indulged in eggplant parm at its birthplace—talk about tasting history! Then it was off to Ravello, a charming mountain town famous for its gelato. Naturally, we had to sample some at Baffone Gelateria, and it did not disappoint. Positano was our final stop, where we strolled through adorable shops and soaked up those picture-perfect views.

For dinner, we braved the line at AZZ! Italian Tavern, and let me tell you—it was so worth it. The lasagna and cacio e pepe were absolute perfection. Rain or shine, the Amalfi Coast is pure magic!
